A new flag-ship was introduced by way of W-series point and shoot camera way back in Feb 2004.
This concept of digital camera retains the traditional element of optical view finder and conglomerates this with most modern assets of 2.5" LCD Screen and 1/1.8", 8-Megapixel imaging sensor. W-series install Carl-Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens in front of the body that configures the shooting object by slimming it down to a portable size while keeping pace with tradition. This led to invention of Cyber-shot Camera and making Sony as the world leaders. Another feature added to the innovation was a redesigned compact body with automation in technology.
All you thought was of a camera compact in size but the technology of merging traditional features with modern innovations led to a powerful invention in a very compact art-piece.
One can't rate these cameras as they are simply the best, the pioneers of technology. In fact many other companies who are only camera manufacturers cannot deliver such quality as found in Sony Cyber shots. The credit goes partly to Carl Zeiss lens and partly to the pioneers themselves, who have an in-built research team to make them the best.
The w-series consists of a number of products all based on the optical zoom, digital zoom LCD Screen and picture definition factor of Mega pixel. These products are varying in their nature due to the user requirement. This is another feature to make Sony Cyber shot the pioneers in technology. While some customers prefer cameras with fine picture quality irrespective of the distance, other customer prefer zoom feature over Mega pixel. To balance the demand and supply curves manufacturer use different permutations and combinations to cater to the wide and varying requirements of the end user.
